【Critic】料理鼠王( Ratatouille )

迪士尼最近一直在重播這部，算是Pixar的片子中我蠻喜歡的一部。

內容主旨是英雄不怕出身低，如果能堅定信念，夢想必然會實現。
其中最感人的當然是頭號反派(笑)，評論家柯伯的自白了。


In many ways, the work of a critic is easy.
就很多方面來說，評論家的工作很輕鬆。

We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment.
我們冒的風險小，卻位高權重，人們必須奉上作品和自己供我們評論。

We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that
我們以負面評論建成，只因讀寫皆饒富樂趣，可是，我們評論家必須面對一個難堪的事實...

in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so.
以價值而言，被評論家批評為平庸之物的同時，我們的評論也許比它更為平庸。

But there are times when a critic truly risks something and that is in the discovery and defense of the new.
可是，有時候評論家真的得冒險，去發現並且捍衛新的事物。

The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends.
這個世界對待新秀、新的創作非常苛刻，新人及新作需要朋友。

Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source.
昨晚我有個全新的經驗，奇妙的一餐來自令人意想不到的出處。

To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core.
如果說那一餐和它的創造者挑戰了我對精緻美食先入為主的觀念，這仍只是輕描淡寫的說法，他們徹底的震撼了我。

In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto, "Anyone can cook." But I realize only now do I truly understand what he meant.
過去，我公開對食神古斯多的著名格言「料理非難事」表示不屑，但是，我發現，現在我才真正了解他的意思。

Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's,
並非任何人都能成為偉大的藝術家，但是偉大的藝術家可能來自任何地方，現今在食神餐廳掌廚的天才出身之低微令人難以想像，

who is, in this critic's opinion,  nothing less than the finest chef in France.
依在下之見，他是法國最好的廚師。

當他說到最後一句我的眼淚也流下來了，說得真好。
Richard Farson, Ralph Keyes 他們在《犯錯最多的是最後贏家》這本書中曾提到，
人們慣於批評創意與嘲弄失敗，因為做起來很簡單，而且在團體中讓我們看起來聰明
而有價值，我們總認為批評者具有冷靜、洞悉他人不能注意的缺陷的特質。 但是，
若我們自身是評論者時，是不是能思量，其實我們的評論本身可能要遠比被批評的事物
更加平庸，畢竟嘗試行動的人才能真正獲得價值。

但柯伯的自白一語道破了這個迷思，並且以作為評論家的一切去捍衛他真心欣賞的事物，
實在令人欽佩。這也提點了我，多行動，少批評，非要批評的話，至少也要做到，
讀寫均饒富趣味這點 ( 哈哈 )，在這裡也向各位推薦這部電影。
